Who will win the 2019 F1 Championship?

After 10 races of the 2019 season to date, Formula 1 is offering up its usual mixture of thrills and spills. This was seen in the most recent race at Silverstone where Lewis Hamilton claimed his record 6th British Grand Prix victory. This saw him not only take the 25 points for winning but also an extra one for the fastest lap. It wasn’t only Hamilton’s form that caught the attention at Silverstone either. A crash between Vettel and Verstappen along with a safety car period also made it a race to remember.

This latest victory for Hamilton sees the English driver stay in number 1 position in the Drivers’ Championship. This is not by a big margin in F1 terms though and means that we can expect to see a really engaging remainder of the season.

With the next race coming up soon at Hockenheim in Germany, you can be sure of more excitement in due course. For any F1 fans looking to kill some of that time, we’ve picked out only the best casino games you can play with Bitcoins and put them on display

When the racing starts again though, you will be eager to see who wins and who loses. This will naturally affect the chances of certain drivers winning the F1 title. But who are the main contenders to take it?

Lewis Hamilton

Of course, the person most likely to succeed is Hamilton. As noted above, he is currently leading the way with 223 points and is in great form. The victory on home soil at Silverstone will also give him a big boost for the rest of this campaign. With four titles won in his last five seasons, he also has the added motivation of adding another one to his collection. All the signs so far are that he is on course to do this – but it might not be a total formality. In truth, this F1 season is one of the most competitive in recent years which means Hamilton must remain on his mettle going forward.

Valtteri Bottas

The major threat to Hamilton’s title ambitions comes from his own Mercedes teammate Bottas. The 184 points he has amassed so far have surprised a lot of people after last year. 2018 was not great for Bottas with him looking a poor driver compared to the form Hamilton was showing. However, he has come back fired up in 2019 with two victories already in Australia and Azerbaijan. With a 2nd at the most recent Grand Prix to bump his tally up, Bottas could make a real challenge for the title this year.

Max Verstappen

Racing for the Red Bull team, Verstappen currently has 136 points in the F1 standings. This form is no surprise to many F1 fans who saw the talent this driver has in the latter part of 2018. Crashes have always been his main problem and, while this has not gone away totally, it is an area that has been improved upon. His title ambitions have also been helped by the improvements the Honda engine has made to Red Bull’s car. A win in the Austrian Grand Prix shows he has what it takes to come first and he will be one to watch if he has as good an end to 2019 as he did in 2018.

Sebastian Vettel

Vettel is obviously a driver of true talent and he has a racing driver’s will to win; however, the last few seasons have not been kind to him. After ten races in the 2019 season though, he has come back to form somewhat as many hoped he would for Ferrari. Having 123 points so far, it is fair to say he has a mountain to climb if he wants to overtake Hamilton for the title. Although he has no wins to his name as yet, a number of high finishes have allowed him to stay in touch with the Championship race. The Ferrari car seems in good shape and if Vettel can continue to cut back on errors when racing, he has an outside chance of claiming overall victory.

Don’t forget the dark horses

The above drivers are the ones who look most likely to win given the points they have and the number of races left in the F1 season. However, you may see other dark horses like Charles LeClerc or Pierre Gasly making a late charge for the crown. Whatever happens, it is sure to make for great action and excitement! For many F1 fans though, it is hard to look past Lewis Hamilton for the best F1 driver in the 2019 season.
