Daniels One Man Race
Daniel Ricciardo relished in the loss of Bottas from the race using the advantage to build up some pace between himself and the Force India’s behind him….
Daniel Ricciardo has a good weekend taking home third place for the team, partly thanks to the loss of Kimi and Bottas, partly thanks to his amazing driver.
Although it wasn’t all great for the driver, the RedBull car is clearly much faster than the rest of the pack but just not quite quick enough to catch the Lewis or Vettel.
This is something that was clear in Russia as well when the RedBull effectively ran their own race not really being challenged by either side.
“Daniel obviously had a pretty lonely race, benefitting from Bottas’ retirement,” Team principle, Christian Horner explained.
“Pretty much halfway through the race we turned the engine down to try and save engine life.”
“Obviously it’s got to do quite a few events, and the pace to the front running cars was pretty significant.”
“We’ve still got plenty to do, we made some progress here this weekend, it’s given us a very clear development direction, hopefully we’ll be looking to capitalise on that on coming races.”
