Formula One News » F1 2013 – Maldonado to leave Williams, Massa to join Posted on 28/10/2013
The latest rumour in the F1 paddock, along with reports from autosport, suggest that Maldonado and his huge financial backers PDVSA are in the final stages of exiting their Williams contract, making way for Felipe Massa to join the team.
Maldonado is believed to have £20million in financial backing from the oil giant.
Maldonado could head to Lotus IF they don’t sign a deal with Quantum motorsports which will give Lotus the financial backing they need. If Lotus DO sign the Quantum motorsports deal it is believed they will sign Nico Hulkenberg.
Maldonado’s other remaining options will be Sauber and Force India should he not get a seat at Lotus.
Massa would join current race engineer Rob Smedley, who is leaving Ferrari to join Williams at the end of the season.
