Formula One News » F1 2013 – Wolff: Confident with what he sees at Mercedes Posted on 08/05/2013
Mercedes motorsport director Toto Wolff says he is “confident” in what he sees at Mercedes and believes they won’t suffer another slump in form similar to that of the 2012 F1 season.
Speaking to Press Association Sport Wolff said “I can see there are some rational explanations as to why performance dropped off last year, I am fully operational and I can see what is going on. Some things have been reshuffled internally in terms of responsibilities, and I think that helped.
“So am I more confident? Yes I am, but I still have to find out how the team will develop throughout the season.
“But yes, I feel confident with what I see.”
“We have already started to change things internally – many things not visible on the weekends, not visible externally.
“We have looked at things internally, about the structure and how you communicate and responsibilities. That is an on-going process.
“I can only make up my mind if I understand the whole picture, and you can’t understand that after a few months.
“There were quotes like ‘Wait until Bahrain and then I’m going to axe 35 people’. That’s nonsense.
“The guys in there are quite intelligent. It’s just about looking at how the structure functions and maybe recalibrating and readjusting bits of it.”
