Formula One News » F1: Webber and Gutierrez handed penalties for Bahrain Grand Prix Posted on 15/04/2013
After a weekend to forget Mark Webber has been dealt a further blow and been given a 3 place grid penalty for the Bahrain grand prix due to his collision with Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne.
Webber believes he wasn’t to blame for the incident but the stewards disagreed, Webber said: “One view looks like Jean-Eric Vergne is giving me the line, the other looks more like it is me. It compounds an amazing weekend for me.”
Sauber driver Esteban Gutierrez also received a grid penalty, this time for 5 place after his collision with Force India driver Adrian Sutil.
“I approached the corner too fast, I was braking at the same place where I usually brake, however, I didn’t anticipate the loss of downforce and the amount of speed I had.
“I tried my best to stop, but didn’t succeed. It was definitely my fault, and I apologise to Adrian and to his team.”
