Teams finally had a chance to test the wet weather tyres from Pirelli ahead of the 2013 formula 1 season as it rained during the morning session at Barcelona.
Lewis Hamilton managed to go quickest as the rains topped and teams managed to get on to slick tyres for a small number of laps before the rain returned again.
The wet to dry to wet again track gave teams the perfect chance to experiment with how the tyres perform and react to a drying track.
There were a number of red flags, one being when Felipe Massa put his Ferrari in the gravel as the rain poured down.
Mark Webber had an issue with his red bull and pulled into the garage as he sat in 8th position.
