    Roman Grosjean currently heads the time sheets on day at Jerez with a time of 1:18.828 in his Lotus.

    The big story from the morning was the crash by Lewis Hamilton on his first day for Mercedes-Benz.

    The reason for Hamiltons crash is believed to be due to break problems, Hamilton went straight off the track after 15 laps and into the barriers causing damage to his front wing.

    “Lewis suffered a loss of rear brake pressure, the front brakes enabled him to slow the car but he couldn’t avoid the barrier” – Mercedes wrote on twitter.

    This is the second issue for Mercedes in as many days as yesterday they suffered electrical problems on day 1 at jerez.
