Scorpion Racing backed by a group of Canadian and American investors are hoping to buy out the remains of Hispania Racing Team.
Scorpion Racing, who would be based in Silverstone, are believed to have the backing of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
The deadline for the 2013 f1 season entry’s was November, the governing body have not hinted at allowing them any special circumstances meaning the team could be forced to wait until the 2014 season.
Scorpion are hoping to run an updated HRT F112 which would be powered by a Cosworth engine and use a Williams gearbox.
Bernie Ecclestone is reported to of written a letter to Scoprion Racing saying: “Have you bought the HRT company? Because if you have, they [the FIA] would be accepting you.”
