Formula One News » FIA rejects more new blood Posted on 08/09/2010
There will be no thirteenth team in 2011, the World Motor Sport Council has announced after its meeting in Paris today.
The FIA invited tenders from teams wishing to fill the vacant slot next season, left by the demise of USF1, back in March.
However, while a number were received, including one from Epsilon Euskadi and a joint bid from Jacques Villeneuve and Durango, none of them were deemed worthy.
A statement on the FIA’s website read:
“Following the press release of 19 March 2010 calling for expressions of interest to participate in the 2011 and 2012 seasons of the FIA Formula One World Championship, a number of interested parties expressed their interest.
“It was considered [though] that none of the candidates met the requirements to be granted an entry into the Championship.
“Consequently, the allocation of the 13th team will not be granted.”
